The CompTIA A+ certification validates the skills required for entry-level computer support positions; the starting point for many successful careers with computers. Candidates should have the knowledge and skill to install, operate and troubleshoot computer software and hardware. CompTIA A+ certification is the first step toward achieving all other Certifications, especially the CompTIA variety.

Prerequisites

Students wishing to be successful with the CompTIA A+ certification training program should possess:

  • One year of computer-using experience.
  • The knowledge and ability to install, operate, and troubleshoot main types of software and hardware.
  • An introductory understanding of the main parts inside a computer.
  • A basic understanding of the main types of computer cases, and how to open them.
  • An introductory understanding of the various types of cables attached to a computer, how to unplug them quickly, and re-attach them.
  • Previous classroom experience with some type of computer field is good, recommended, but not necessary.
